Since last week Amazon has increased its Prime Now range from 174 (114 Chilled, 60 Frozen) to 202 (130 Chilled, 72 Frozen).
Amazon is now sole or joint cheapest on 147 of 202 products (72.8 percent) slightly up from 71.8 percent last week.
Amazon has changed the price of 22 products – 14 products decreased in price and 8 increased. Ten products were delisted.
The price decreases mean that Amazon has further extended the average price difference with all the retailers, except Sainsbury’s.
Sainsbury’s is now more competitive than last week, it is 17.3 percent more expensive than Amazon, compared to 19.1 percent last week. This change is as a result of the fact that Sainsbury’s only lists 4 of the 14 lines that Amazon reduced and also because it reduced the price of 29 products in the basket.
Asda’s pricing is currently the closest to Amazon – Asda is 14.9 percent more expensive across the basket of commonly listed goods.
Products from Delphi, Mattessons and Rustlers that were unavailable last week are now available to order again. Whereas, Ginsters Original Cornish Pasty 227g, Lurpak Spreadable Slightly Salted Tub 500g and Muller Rice Original 180g are now unavailable.
Despite being the closest retailer to Amazon two weeks ago, due to the recent Amazon price changes, Morrisons has now slipped behind Asda and Sainsbury’s. The retailer was 9.2 percent more expensive than Amazon last week and is now 17.9 percent more expensive. It has not reduced any prices of the products in the basket since last week’s analysis.
